Dinner Meeting - Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 6:30 PM

The speaker is Ray Cox, of the Piney Woods SAR Chapter. His presentation will discuss a day in the life of the Revolutionary War Soldier and how the fife/drum signals regulated the soldier’s day. He will include stories about daily life and playing of drum and fife calls in the Revolutionary War. An email to members will advise of menu choices. Be sure to let Lovell know the members and guests who will attend, and each attendees menu choice. Call Lovell Aldrich 281-491-1542 to make reservations and choose a menu item. The reservation and cancellation deadline is noon Friday, May 26th. Members not able to cancel by the deadline should pay Treasurer Bob Riley for their missed meal by the next meeting.

Memorial Day - May 29, 2017

Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day, was borne out of the Civil War and desire to honor our dead. It was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11. “The 30th of May 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in the defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land,” he proclaimed. The date of Decoration Day, as he called it, was chosen because it wasn’t the anniversary of any particular battle.

Officers Planning Meeting - April 25, 2017

April 25, 2017 at 7:00PM there will be an officer planning meeting at the home of Lovell Aldrich, Phone 281-491-1542. Officers are expected to attend and members are welcome to attend.

May Meeting with the Alexander Hodge DAR Chapter - May 16, 2017 at 6:00PM

Please plan to attend DAR's end of the year meeting on May 16th, at La Escondida Mexican Grill & Catering. We will be gathering at 6:00 pm then 6:30 seating for dinner.  Location is 7270 Hwy. 6, Suite  500, Missouri City, TX  77459- just down Hwy. 6, with the turn right just passed the grand entrance to Lake Olympia on the left.  The Alexander Hodge SAR Chapter is invited to join the DAR and all their HODARS and/or significant others. Mr. Tom Green will provide the entertainment for the evening with a presentation on Alexander Hodge.

Attendance information is needed by Saturday April 29th if not before. Please find the menu selections below just to provide you with some information now.

Dinner Meeting - Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 6:30PM

 Our dinner meeting will be Tuesday March 28th at the Sweetwater Country Club, 4400 Palm Royale Blvd., Sugar Land, TX. We start to gather around 6:30 P. M. and the meeting starts at 7:00 P. M.

Our Speaker will be Dr. Christopher Hammons and his topic will be "Faith and the Founding Fathers". You might remember his excellent and entertaining speech on Paul Revere last year.
The dinner selections will be Pot Roast braised with carrots, potatoes, onions, herbs and turnips or Lemon Garlic Chicken. Please contact Lovell Aldrich at 281-491-1542 or reservations@hodgesar.org with your dinner selection.

George Washington Parade in Laredo, Texas - February 18, 2017

Flag Program at Hodges Bend Middle School - February 10, 2017

Tom Green presented  a flag program, and talked about the Patriot Alexander Hodge at the Hodges Bend Middle School.
